June 1995 - FRAME HOUSE GALLERY OPENS EXHIBIT OF CHARCOAL DRAWINGS

Framehouse Gallery hosts new exhibit

Brax Hudson, a 19-year-old local artist, is displaying charcoal drawings at the Framehouse Gallery, located on Rt. 9, three miles west of Five Points.

Hudson is most noted nationally for his fine oil paintings and portraits of Albert Einstein, Sir Winston Churchill and others. One of his oils, a portrait of Dr. James Beebe, hangs in the main entrance of Beebe Medical Center of Lewes. He also drew the popular lighthouse note card series featured in shops in Delaware and along the East Coast. The charcoals are Hudson's personal favorites for their emotional expression and drama.

The shadowy impact and dreamlike qualities of the current exhibit are quite unlike the classic formality of his portraits, yet they have the impact of the Renaissance masters. Hudson is a graduate of The New Renaissance Academy's School of Living Oils and a graduate and recent assistant instructor of The Science of Masterpiece Painting course.

He fondly attributes the technique of painting and the instruction techniques of New Renaissance's founder Libby Berry as the source of his expertise. The Framehouse Gallery also offers framing, restoration and sale of works by other local artists.
